I’m Jasso Lamberg. I’m a specialist in communication, design, and research. Mostly I deal with issues connected to visual communication, but, in the end, it is only very rare occasions when you have visuals without words. Usually words and images go hand in hand, and so it is necessary to understand both and how they work together.
Little while ago I finished my PhD thesis which discusses how visual design communicates imagined personalities of products and companies. I built my thesis on the case of newspaper design, but the research and gained knowledge can be applied to other areas as well. I also have an MA in theory & history of design, and a BA in media communication & graphic design. Before embarking on the dark side known as academia, I used to work as a journalist and designer in the newspaper industry.
Currently I am a lecturer in visual culture at Edinburgh Napier University. My job includes teaching things like advertising and graphics, as well as doing research. Before that I spend about a decade as an independent lecturer and consultant, teaching courses, running workshops, speaking at seminars etc. for various clients. I’m still happy to consider new projects and collaborations, so feel free to get in touch if you have need for my skills and expertise.
If you don’t have direct proposals for me, but happen to work in academia, design, communication, and whatnot, get in touch anyway. Often when people start networking, talking, and exchanging ideas it creates synergy which can lead to all kinds of interesting things. Sharing is creating!
Every now and then I write stuff here on my blog. My interests are quite interdisciplinary, so you might see texts on philosophy and general culture as well as on design and communication.
Have a look around, and feel free to share your thoughts!
